Resumo:  This study is an attempt to describe a human health risk assessment as a function of recreationl activities in relation to environmental pollution of El-Mex bay through studying the Haemoglobin-adducts (Hb-adducts) of three aromatic amines namely benzidine, alpha and beta naphthylamine as biomarker for exposure as well as biochemical effects of these pollutants on fishermen in this area, beside the determination of these substances in the tissues of 2 types of fish at the same area. The sturdy was conducted on 21 control male subjects and 78 volunteers fishermen, all the 99 subjects were chosen to be smokers. Blood glutathione content was significantly decreased in fislrermen compared with controls. On the other hand glutathione-S-transferase, B-glucoronidase, gama-glutamyltransferase and alkaline phosphatase showed significant elevation in their activities in fishermen group compared with tlre control one. The level of the aromatic amine Hb-adducts was also significantly elevated in fishermen group. The presence of a positive correlation between the aromatic amines Hb-adducts and B-glucoronidase activity and negative correlation between the adducts level and blood glutathione content represent a great risk for the health of those fishermen, specially that they are exposed to these pollutants through fishing process and consuming these 2 types of fish in their food that shown to have elevated levels of aromatic amines in their tissues.
